ELECTION RESULTS FOR NORTH HERO

 

It should be noted that 343 citizens voted either by absentee ballot or at the polls on March 7th, 2006.  The following is a complete listing of the election results.

 

1.         Will the Town of North Hero allow the use of vote tabulating machines for elections?  Approved 255 to 83

2.         Will the legal voters of the town authorize the Selectboard to borrow in anticipation of taxes?  Approved 277 to 62

3.         Will the legal voters of the Town of North Hero authorize for FY 2006-2007 a general fund expenditure for operating expense of $686,938, of which $505,788 shall be raised by taxes and $181,150 by non-tax revenue?  Approved 280 to 60

4.         Will the legal voters of the town vote to pay the Treasurer, Real Property Taxes in four installments with due dates of August 20, October 20, December 20 and February 20 with an interest charge of 1% per month added if each installment is not paid by the due date.  After February 20, any unpaid taxes would be charged an 8% collection fee plus the interest fees?  Approved 291 to 48

5.         Will the legal voters of the town vote to pay the Credit Supervisor of the Water Department water fees in four installments with due dates of July 20, September 20, November 20 and March 20, with an interest charge of 1% per month for 3 months added if each installment is not paid by the due date and 1 and 1/2 % per month thereafter?

Approved 309 to 27

6.         Will the legal voters of the town vote to have delinquent property taxes collected by the Town Treasurer with the 8% penalty reverting to the town?  Determined to be an invalid article. 

7.         Will the legal voters of the Town of North Hero appropriate the sum of $20,000 for the North Hero Volunteer Fire Department to be used for the purchase of firefighting equipment?  Approved 313 to 27

8.         Will the legal voters of the Town of North Hero approve the sum of $10,000 for the Grand Isle County Mutual Aid Association which will be used for the County wide Emergency Communications and Dispatch Systems?  Approved 301 to 33

9.         Will the Town of North Hero approve the sum of $10,000 to defray Operating expenses of Grand Isle Rescue?  Approved 329 to 10

10.       Will the legal voters of the Town of North Hero authorize the Library Trustees to spend all funds (i.e. fund raising, town allocations, grants, etc.) for support of the library?

Approved 313 to 23

11.       Will the legal voters of the Town of North Hero appropriate the sum of $12,547.08 for North Hero’s portion of the County Wide Full time Officer?  Approved 252 to 88

12.       Will the legal voters of the Town of North Hero appropriate the sum of $18,789 for North Hero’s portion of the County Wide Part Time Officer and equipment costs?  Approved 228 to 104

13.       Will the legal voters of the Town of North Hero appropriate the sum of $36,000 for the use of the School for Town functions?  Approved 257 to 78

14.       Will the voters of the Town of North Hero instruct our State Representatives, Senators and Governor to oppose any use of the State Education Fund for purposes that are outside the law’s original intent to “make payments to school districts and supervisory unions for the support of education”; the shifting of existing State General Fund expense obligations to the Education Fund; and the reduction of any existing State General Fund revenue support to the Education Fund?  Approved 311 to 26
