NORTH HERO DELAYS REAPPRAISAL
Last month at a regular meeting of the Select Board in North Hero, it was decided to delay the use of the new appraisal values until the next tax year. This decision was based on a request by the appraisal firm for an extension in order to complete their work. The extension would have forced a delay in the distribution of tax bills until October forcing the town to borrow money to run day to day operations.
New appraisal values will now not be known until May of 2006 and will include updated sales and land values to reflect any market changes. Change of appraisal notices will go out this year within the next few weeks however, to residents who have made changes to their existing property and to those who built new construction.
The appraisers will continue to visit all properties in order to complete their inspections. Please call the office if they have not contacted you, or have not inspected the interior of your home. We will arrange for appointments at your convenience.
